Yash Raichand (Amitabh Bachchan) and his wife (played by Bachchan's real-life wife, Jaya Bachchan) have two sons they love dearly. When the eldest, Rahul (Shahrukh Khan) marries Anjali (Kajol) against Yash's decision, Yash disowns him. Ten years later, when the younger son Rohan (Hrithik Roshan) is an adult, he decides to try and reunite his family and enlists the help of Anjali's younger sister, Pooja (Kareena Kapoor). The plot of this drama was credible and moving. The Bachchan's chemistry was perfect and natural, as was their acting.

Both Khan and Kajol, and Roshan and Kapoor also had good chemistry, as well as believable acting. Kajol's enthusiasm and vivacity was especially wonderful. The child actors for young Pooja (Malvika Raaj) and young Rohan (Kavish Majmudar) were particularly convincing. The choreography was generally good, as Roshan is a fine dancer. The music was also mostly good, with some songs being particularly catchy. Truly, the only thing to dislike about the film is that sometimes Kapoor's outfits were so skimpy as to be painful to see.

Other than that, this is a stellar film about love, pride, and family, and was thoroughly enjoyable. Cast also includes Rani Mukherji, Alok Nath, Johnny Lever, Jibraan Khan, and Farida Jalal. It is a star-studded cast with some good songs. Other than that, helicopters, ballrooms and Desi Pooja trying to imitate Alicia Silverstone is too much and frankly embarrassing to watch.
The movie could have been made in India with Indian locale and would have been more believable. But no, we are made to believe that Raichand mansion clearly located in UK is actually supposed to be in India! What an insult to movie-goers' intelligence. I am sure that Indian tycoons can still be displayed as wealthy without resorting to western style glamour. Don't waste your money on this movie.
It has no rhyme, reason or a credible story. Movies like this one has a subliminal message: west is good and east is bad. Or that the success is only defined in western terms. Karan Johar needs to get his head out of his rear-end. This was such a good story. It was heartbreaking and beautiful at the same time about a love of a boy and his mother, family honor and fatherhood. As usual, Shahrukh Khan and Kajol, are magic together in this movie.
I just love her! He really has a way of having chemistry with every leading lady he works with; that is a skill. The one musical number they did in the desert, OMG. It was HOT without being crude or nasty! I don't know how they did that!

It was so sensual, sexy and smokin' but no kissing or inappropriate touching, that in itself is unique. It leaves you thinking without seeing people naked everywhere, something America needs to learn. I love how he was so devoted to his mother, and the one part in the movie where they were reunited, I cried my eyes out! It is a sad, beautiful and sweet movie and you really should see it! And of course, the usual music, dancing, etc, etc. Its amazing how they can fit all that in in these movies and still carry a serious storyline and it not seem weird. I guess that's why us Bollywood lovers love these movies!
